Best Window Display

DSC03187.JPG, originally uploaded by Theresa Di Moan.

There is no doubt about it: the most exciting window display in town belongs to an eyeware boutique with one of the lamest of names (Granville Mall Optical). There is always something to stare at in their windows, in fact it's like an entire art gallery. Sometimes dioramas, other times artsy ceramics with questionable fuancionalities, frightening masks or their current exhibit of gothic gowns, made entirely of paper!

The reason I'm showing you this is because for the first time in my life, I've gotten a pair of sunglasses over $20 (just a little short of $200) and I love them! They came from this shop, not surprisingly. It's not the first time I find something explicitly cool there: perscription glasses for my best friend (talking about funky!), or the best ever, bold squarish glasses for my geeky x-boyfriend (I totally saved his sight that day, not to mention maintaining his great looks which lasted longer than our relationship).

Well, this time I was there for me. The gentleman in the shop (who has always been helpful before) picked these ones right away. And he was right. They may not look all the impressive on their own, but on my face they totally rock. Plus their colours are like nothing I've seen before. I just couldn't stand the idea of another black or turtle shell pair of glasses again. No thanks... The model is "Riddle" by Oakley, the frame is "pink latte" and the lenses are bronze. I like my windows now...

Mood Indigo

Mood Indigo 02, originally uploaded by Theresa Di Moan.

There are only a few things originated in the 80's I can see myself doing again: loop earrings, leggings and the colour purple.

I found myself particularly intrigued by purple recently... It even got to the point of me obsessing over this pair of ankle strap sandals by Fluevog, and painting my toe nails with a matching purple nailpolish. The result on its own was near revolting, as it made my skin look so pale, my feet looked as if they belong to the nearest post-mortem freezer. Ouch! Nevertheless, with the slightly-punk-twist on a pair of Tango sandals, a bouquet of purple tulips and cheap but purposeful little purple handbag, I think I got my perfect purple look!

You'd never catch me with these wearing a purple dress, by the way, should not and would not be purple. Either my halter olive dress, brown shoulderless dress, or a pair of jeans with a muted dark but funky top.

Don't you love mood indigo?

Heart Shoes

Heart Shoes, originally uploaded by Theresa Di Moan.

I was window shopping today for accessories at Icing by Claire, and spotted these cheap and cute black pumps - simple but with a red plastic heart detail. These can be had for $30 or so (after taxes and all) and are not half bad. They are not half comfortable either, but who cares? It's not like comfort stops people from buying Manolo Blahnik's for hundreds of dollars ;)

The socks, by the way, are my favourite beige opaque lycra anklets from Secret. They have become a staple in my sock drawer... Along with the black version, of course.

Pink Purse

Pink Purse, originally uploaded by Theresa Di Moan.

This crescent shaped hot pink faux-leather purse is one of my favourites. It's equally stylish and practical - a rare phenomenon. And what more, it cost me only $18 at the shoe repair shop on Davie @ Jervis.

There are a couple of compartments inside - one with a zipper, where I keep my make-up and pens etc., and one that seems to be waiting to nestle a cellphone. Personally, I prefer the lace-up pockets at the tip of each side of the crescent for the cell phone. Saves the time required for digging and unzipping...

The contents of the bag as seen in the photo above:
BAD Gal
Lash mascara by BeneFit
Clinique's Color Surge Impossibly Glossy lipgloss in Prettiest Pink (#102)
Agent Provocateur's purse perfume
Stella in Two Amber solid perfume
My Motorola flip-phone which shows the time when the picture was taken. This should be the sole purpose of it's existence if you ask me...
