Finally... Something to look forward to!

After a long season of "bleh" shoe designs (SS07, and even WF0708 were both quite lame with nothing to rock my world or empty my pocket so to speak), here comes a whole new season and with it endless possibilities of adventures and ways in which to empty my pocket book, non existent credit cards, and whatever might be left of my bank account...

I know, I know what you're thinking... Theresa was just too depressed to notice anything mourning her dying love story and so on... Well, you might be right, but I'm gonna stand up to my original view and say - my oh my did the last season suck in shoe design!

On the other hand, I have to agree, I'm back to my old self again. Obsessing about shoes and pairing them up with odd socks and kinky outfits. Perhaps now that love is officially over, I finally have time to take a closer look at the really important things in life. In case you need a reminder - these are SHOES & SOCKS.

A quick glance at the B2 window set me up with a dream for this season right away, in the shape and form of two sassy pairs of sandals, on which I immediately zoomed in (see the next pic). The only problem remained - which one to choose?

Chie Mihara Sassy Sandals, originally uploaded by Theresa Di Moan.

So, I decided to go and check for myself yesterday afternoon. I made the mistake of going on a slow day where I got too much attention from the staff at B2, thus probably blowing away for life my ability to take pics of sassy shoes there without buying them (or until buying them, that is... coz most shoes worth capturing are also work keeping if you ask me...).

Chie Mihara Sandals, originally uploaded by Theresa Di Moan.

The first pair looked great with or without socks. The perfect look to complement my uber-cheap, ass-hugging sweatpants in pretty much the same tone of gray. I just love gray these days, and don't ask me why coz I haven't the answer. The bold strap in the middle looks equally awkward and appealing. So are the gray heels. The rest of the shoe is pretty classy though, and reminds me a little of the black Gazith Mary Janes with the cream piping. Perhaps a detail that should not be repeated in a shoe wardrobe, perhaps would go unnoticed?

The other sandals were oddly more comfortable, albeit far taller (I believe they measure up to 4" or more, but these are platforms and the arch is amazingly perfect so I can certainly do them!). Although not perfectly made for my cheap sweatpants like the previous pair, I think they complemented them pretty good. What makes me happy is to think how well they will go with basically anything - jeans, sweatpants of other colours, and most importantly - my newly acquired, shiny gold dress. And unlike those Marc Jacobs I liked from my post before, I can actually try these ones on.
The only downside? The beautiful and practically perfect pair of sandals cost a mere $400 before taxes. So I will be needing to save up for them or start pimping for them... Oh, and did I tell you yet how beautiful the wooden heels and platforms look? And how much I love the two-toned gladiator inspired straps in my two favourite colours? And the stacked heel... Yum! If it means I will be only getting one pair of shoes this season, so be it. I promise I will behave...

Last but not least - by doing so I will be supporting an entrepreneur woman, Chie Mihara. A Brazilian-born and raised of Japanese ancestry, Chie studied design in Japan and New York and worked in Japan and Europe. Aside from being a successful, intelligent and beautiful business woman with her own unique style, she also has her own family of 3 kids (wow! I have to bow to that, way to go!).

For some reason I can't find these particularly awesome sandals on her webstore, but you might like something else you'll find there...

Gold Rush Nail Polish

Gold Rush Nail Polish, originally uploaded by Theresa Di Moan.

Gold rush nail polish, again from gold miner Lise Watier, and shoes to go with it:

Luichiny Minx in gold of course $92.95
Well, that's about as froufrou as I can ever see myself going...
Onex Broadway in platinum $93.95
- Sorta Middle Easter or maybe East Indian inspired? I'm not a huge thong wearer, and definitely not high heeled slip-ons, but these have something about them that I just like...

Nina Gelato in gold $98.95
- Well, this could be straightforward tacky. However, I like the T strap and I like the ankle strap too. Along with the rheinstones all over the place, these are as glamorous as a shoe could be, without over doing it (I think). And the heel is only 3", can you imagine the comfort?!

Baby Phat Soft Cat in gold $73.95
- I really like the heels on this pair. Otherwise they would be overly tacky...

Kenneth Cole Py-Baby in gold $138.56
- Gladiator sandals gone glamorous in the most subtle and sweet way. These can be easily dressed up (evening gowns) or down (shorts and tank top). Let's just hope the sole is as flexible... I often find sandals from this genre to be very stiff...

And the following which are not open toe, so the pedicure won't show... But I couldn't help noticing them and had to share ;)

Baby Phat Mulberry $99.95
- Don't you just love these charms? I think the lock has captured my heart ;)
Bobbi Blu Unveil in light gold metallic leather $82.95
- These remind me of Flamenco shoes. I think they'll look equally great with a pair of jeans or a tiered skirt.

Getting tired of all that gold? Do you think I've turned into Midas with a gold touch?
Well, don't worry, this phase will be over soon, at least on my blog that is... Next posts will have a completely different colour as I try to find a matching purse to my gold dress and bronzed shoes... And also you're gonna get a sneak peak into my wettest fantasies for footwear this spring!

Dressing Up The Sweatpants

Dressing Up The Sweatpants 04, originally uploaded by Theresa Di Moan.

Gold Rush - The Smashing Red Carpet Look

12 red-carpet shoes to go with my new limited-edition shiny gold Pamela dress by local dress-genius Narcissist Design (fortunate Vancouverites can go and snatch these on Main street, while they're still on sale):

typeZ Noel in gold $109.95
Class meets kink and the dark bows makes them go well with that dark gold dress of mine.

Nine West Heech $92.95
What can I say, these are just HOT!
I'm gonna look for them in a real store this weekend, they have to be tried on with that gold dress on - a perfect match if you ask me.

Marc by Marc Jacobs 673929 in Bronze Silk Nappa $233
These 4.5" platforms look solif and comfortable with their bold mix of kink and class. I want them, and I want them NOW!
* I'm size 7.5 BTW, in case you have an extra pair on hand that you can't figure out what to do with ;)

J. Renee Cameo in gold (bronze?!) $98.95
- Kinky wedge heels, trashy glamorous rheinstones that only their brownness saves them from tacky-dome... And also go fabulously well with my rheinstone beret that would go well with the dress as well... The open toe has a promise of wearability, as I find it a lot easier to wear open toed high heels, especially with that restricting kind of wedge.Jessica Bennett Gesine in gold $125.06
- Sexy wedge heels and a more severe/less playful look than the rheinstoned wedges

Donna Karan 873946 in golden suede $315
- Classy, soft, almost romantic. I have to say what I like the most about them is the suggestion of gold without much shimmer, plus the ribbon that could be tied and played with in many different ways. It could easily go with my beige obsessed wardrobe as well, elbeit the very undoable pencil thin heel.
Aerosoles Sweet Part in Gold Combo (again, the kind of gold that would easily pass as a bronze - which is to be said about the dress I picked as well...) $83.95
- These look like tango shoes, exactly my cup of tea. And if I could dance in them, all the better, especially with that price tag.

J. Renee Fluent in gold $88.95
I like the fact that they are low heel and slingback (potentially, they might even be comfortable!) and could transfer easily from casual to more dressy occasions... The little jewel is what made them stand out for me though.
Circa Joan & David - Kylie in gold leather $92.95
Free spirited bronze toned stilettos adorned with coined foot jewelry. Aside from the obvious discomfort, I see no reason for not liking them.
Robert Cavalli L70036 in gold (well, that's the only colour available if you look for anything else!). These are a mere $1,283.95 (as opposed to $1,284 - I guess there is something to be said for saving 5c...)
Yes, it's hard to believe I'd fall for something that screams mafia-wife so loudly, but this pair has something about it that is utterly tasteful albeit shamlessly glamorous, tastefully kinky and wild and at the same time oh so pretty! Just imagine them on a pair of long tanned legs (not mine of course;) wrapped in smooth fabric, hmmm...

Martinez Valero Bella in gold mirror $142.95
- Dunno if I could pull-off this heel height, but the front diamond leaves are drop-dead eloquent! The bronze tone also prevents these from the trip down tacky slide...
Giuseppe Zanotti Design - E6223 in braided brown with gold chain $298
- These are just plain fantastic combination of the mudane with the glamorous.

The following two extra pairs I found while looking from glamorous red-carpet shoes. These are a bit more on the casual side, but I still like them and figured I should let you know about them while I'm at it:
Frye Lisa Maryjane in gold (looks more like bronze if you ask me...) $161.95

Bordering on the casual side, but I just couldn't help noticing their captivating simplicity. And the bronze colour, of course. If it wasn't for the bejewled and braided similar type of sandals from Giuseppe Zanotti I would have taken them a tad more seriously...

Gold Rush Make Up

Gold Rush Make Up, originally uploaded by Theresa Di Moan.

I've been in a crazy gold mood lately...
Not quite pure gold, more of a coppery tone, as well as shimmering nudes...
For make up here is what I used:
Foundation: the sheer and ever so flattering Aveda Tainted Moisture spf 15 in Sweet Tea
Lips: shiny and wet Aveda Lip Glaze in Kamara Fruit
For the eyes:
Annabelle Duo Eyeshadow Gel in Go-Diva
Bronze from the metallic Lise Watier compact, apply lines across from corner of eyes to outer side of eyebrows
Finish with Aveda Petal Essence Triple Accent in Gold Leaf / Geranium (below eyebrows and below lower lids - use only the gold end of the pencil of course!)

Up to here this is all pretty normal, but here comes the twist -

Cheeks: gold and bronze from Lise Watier metallic copact. This creates a slightly distrubing "diry cheeks" look, which I personally loved and found very interesting... Especially in comparison to the pale lips and neautral face overall. It's safe to try at home ;)

Tune in for the rest of the gold rush update tomorrow...

High Heels & Sweatpants

High Heels & Sweatpants, originally uploaded by Theresa Di Moan.

As usual, I'm late to the game when it comes to casual fashions that repeat themselves on every 2nd girl on Robson street... For the longest time I've been very strict about wearing my gym clothes only at the gym...

Introducing... my favourite new style: High-Heels & Sweatpants...!
combining the comfort of ass-hugging stretchy sweatpants with a quirky top (see the jacket below from Flying Tomato) and sexy heels, and of course... a hand bag to match is in order (though you can't see it in the pic, you can be sure I won't miss that kinda detail).

A little note about the leather the shoes here are made of - the 3rd pair of shoes I have from this strange marriage of suede and patent leather... The shine of patent leather, the buttery-soft, feet-hugging suede, with a visual and tactile texture that is reminiscent of snakeskin.... hmmmmmm.... Someone should invent a name for that, because I wanna wear a lot more stuff made out of it!
